Winter Blues

Well, don’t even know where to start. Haven’t been on here for a full year now.

Been so busy learning Website Design, sitting here and there with grand-kids.

Now there is one way of smoothing out the Winter Blues…Just keep busy through

the winter and before you know it, it’ll be Spring. Winter is also a good time to scrapbook

your Christmas pics. One way to keep organized is to keep your pics in an itemized little plastic

acid-free, expandable organizer. You can find an image of it at www.myscrapbookingstuff.com.

You’ll find other interresting scrapbooking stuff there. Meanwhile, keep warm and stay indoors

if you can. This morning as I got up look at the thermometer outside my patio doors it was -32C out here.

For the star of the second week in March, that’s incredibly cold. Remember to keep busy and time goes faster

and Winter will be gone.  Some people like Winter, I am more a Spring and Summer person. Always make the best

of your day. Have a great one. :) Carmen

Scrapbooking History

Scrapbooking History

“Scrapbooking” has become the most popular and personalized craft/hobby since Mark Twain to President Thomas Jefferson.
Some say that the history of Scrapbooking goes back as far as the mid 1500’s. When men kept records of Political and Religious discussions and also recorded Public Notices’ on paper called “White Tablets”. Minor mementoes’ were also saved. Items like poems dried or pressed flowers, feathers, paper cuts and other perpetual. An album called “The Common Place Book” was where items were kept. In the early 1800’s President Thomas Jefferson had an album which contained newspaper clippings of his term as the President. Also at that time were created albums with personal writings and friendship, so locks were then introduced. Albums got fancier as time went by with embossed designs and lettering. The word “Scrapbook” came from pieces of paper collected and pasted in these albums. In the late 1800’s a scrapbooking enthusiast “Mark Twain” created a personal album which he then sold for nearly $50,000.00. Somewhere around 1839, photography was introduced. Louis-Jacques Daguerre was the culprit to introduce photography with scrapbooking, which would enhance the art of scrapbooking.

Now for longer protection of our photographs and the crafty paper and embellishments, acid free products are used.

Make use of your old yearly planners!

Don’t throw away your old planner, use them to create new beautiful dress up books. First find the pictures you want to put in them, then find the right colored paper and embellishments to go with it and start to create a memorable keepsake to give to a special person in your life. Glue the paper to the old planner pages and arrange your pictures of your choice in the way you would in your scrapbooking album and “voila” you have created a beautiful memory to last for a lifetime. Use your imagination with it. You’ll go a long ways!!! Have fun… :)
